OPEN HOUSE FESTIVAL

Open House Festival 2026 - a two week celebration of London’s housing, architecture and neighbourhoods.

All are welcome, on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September, when Moravian Close will be open from 1pm to 5pm on each day.   As well as giving an historical overview of the Moravians in London, past and present, visitors will learn about the Close’s evolution and special features including the Tudor wall surrounding God’s Acre and the Gillick Pageant, a set of heraldic shields showing the ownership of the estate from Sir Thomas More in 1524 to Sir Hans Sloane in 1737.

This year we shall be showing for the first time our new plaque in Studio 1, produced by the Royal Mint, celebrating Ernest and Mary Gillick, sculptors and artists, who lived and worked at the Close from 1914 to 1964.   Mary Gillick modelled Queen Elizabeth II’s head for our coinage.

Please note that there is no parking inside the Close, but pay and display can be found in the immediate area. Dogs are welcome on leads (for this weekend only).
